About Rondebosch

Rondebosch is one of the first Southern Suburbs of Cape Town and is bordered by the suburbs of Newlands, Rosebank, Claremont, Rondebosch East, and the slopes of Devil's Peak. It is primarily an up-market residential suburb, with a medium sized shopping area and a small business district. It is best known for its excellent schools and for the University of Cape Town.

The main campus of the University of Cape Town, which is nestled beneath the slopes of Devil's Peak, is one of the country's top universities. The historic Groote Schuur estate located in Rondebosch includes both presidential and ministerial residences and have Cape Dutch origins.

The centre of Rondebosch is the Main Road, with the Victorian cast iron Rondebosch Fountain being a historic landmark. The area is currently being revitalised as 'Rondebosch Village'. Historic buildings in the area include the library (formerly the town hall) and St Paul's Church which was designed by Charles Michell. The home of Simon van der Stel, first governor of the Cape Colony, is now part of Rustenburg Junior School. This building dates back to the 17th century, although it has undergone many alterations over the years. Its summer house, dating from 1760, remains as a monument just below the university.

Rondebosch Common, once a military camp ground, is declared a national monument and is also an important fynbos conservation area. The Baxter Theatre in Rondebosch is Cape Town's second biggest theatre complex, after the Artscape Theatre Centre in the city centre.

About Newlands

Newlands is an upmarket suburb of Cape Town, South Africa. It is located at the foot of table mountain in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. It is home to numerous schools as well as the Newlands Forest. Newlands is known as Cape Town 's "green" suburb because of it's lush surroundings.

Newlands is the home of Newlands Rugby Stadium - venue of the opening ceremony of the Rugby World Cup in 1995, and Newlands Cricket Stadium - venue of the opening ceremony of the Cricket World Cup in 2003. Newlands is also home to the Montebello Design Centre which has a craft shop, sculpture garden, studios, a restaurant and the first contemporary Bushman (San) Gallery.

Newlands is also home to many well established Corporate offices. Perhaps the most famous is the SAB Miller (Newlands) offices. However it is the Finance and Accounting sectors which are most strongly represented, with many Banks, Asset Management Companies and Auditing Firms having their offices in Newlands.

Cape Town ? a seductive blend of business and pleasure

Few cities in the world can offer such a blend of exquisite beauty, premium commercial infrastructure - including cutting ? edge business facilities ? and diverse and cosmopolitan culture. Accessible, affordable and convenient, Cape Town is such a city. Set against the back drop of Table Mountain, one of the world?s most recognisable geographical and tourism icons, this city offers the business traveller a seductive blend of business and pleasure. As many will attest to, the one has been known to work wonders for the other.

Compared with other international cities, Cape Town is a highly affordable destination for meetings, conferences and conventions, and combines a vast array of accommodation options that are often unique and affordable, with a range of flexible venues to suit any type or size of business gathering.

The latest jewel in the city?s business crown is the spectacular Cape Town international Convention Centre (CTICC). This cutting-edge facility is ideally situated on the City?s foreshore, close to South Africa?s most visited tourist attraction, the spectacular Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.

The exceptional architecture of the CTICC makes it an inspiring meeting venue, without mincing words, the perfect setting for any business event. There?s no shortage of accommodation for delegates either. With 6800 hotel rooms within walking distance of the CTICC and a further 11 000 rooms in the greater City area, Cape Town has a wide selection of superb hotels in all categories that promise local and international visitors a memorable stay.

The range of leisure activities on offer to delegates post-conference or event is what really distinguishes the city from any other competitor. Cage-diving with Great White sharks or abseiling off Table Mountain are once-in-a-lifetime experiences, as is getting a feel in the old prison on Robben Island for what was once the home of Nelson Mandela ? for 27 years home to the worlds?s most famous political prisoner. The museums and galleries in the Cape - much like local theatre ? recall and reveal the country?s chequered past, while increasingly also celebrating the extraordinary talent that has emerged from South Africa?s new generations. Capping it off at one of the weekly summer sunset concerts at the gob-smackingly beautiful Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden ? which Capetonians confidently proclaim the worlds finest ? the myriad exciting offerings on offer at this southern edge of Africa are best toasted with a glass of the finest South African wine. Grown just down the road s is has been for centuries.

When it comes to finding the right destination to make business an absolute pleasure, Cape Town is the obvious choice.
